Charter Mechanical Contractors is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager.  Duties for this position will include:

  • Preparation of project proposals and estimates
  • Direction of resources and personnel within the project
  • Contract administration and documentation
  • Buyout of subcontractors, equipment, and materials
  • Labor productivity tracking
  • Schedule development
  • Project budget tracking and cost projections
  • Customer relations and business development
  • Project safety culture leadership
  • Solid communications skills – verbal and written

The ideal candidate will have:

  • College degree, preferably Construction Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration.  Equivalent work experience also considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the contracting industry.

 

  • Project Engineer

Charter Mechanical Contractors is currently seeking a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager. Working under the supervision of a Project Manager, the duties included with this entry management position will include assisting with:

  • Preparation of project proposals and estimates
  • Purchasing and tracking of materials for installation
  • Labor productivity tracking
  • Contract documentation, submittals, CO and RFI logs
  • Schedule development

The ideal candidate will have a college degree, preferably Construction Engineering Management, Business Administration, or Mechanical Engineering.  Equivalent work experience also considered.   • Estimator

Charter Mechanical Contractors is currently seeking to fill an entry level mechanical Estimator position.  This is a great opportunity to learn from our experienced staff while developing your skills for a life-long career.  Working under the supervision of a Sr. Estimator, the duties included with this entry management position will include assisting with:

  • Take-off of quantities and items for cost development
  • Assistance in the preparation of project proposals
  • Vendor and subcontractor estimate reviews
  • Review of project specifications and constructability issues
  • Utilization of estimating software and Excel.

The ideal candidate will have experience in construction estimating and/or the mechanical  construction industry.  Related work experience required or college degree, preferably Construction Engineering Management, Business Administration, or Mechanical Engineering. 

 

  • Sr. PreConstruction Manager

Charter Mechanical is currently seeking an experienced PreConstruction and Estimating Department Manager experienced in all facets of the mechanical contracting industry. This is a great opportunity to be a leader in our young and growing company.  As the position will be filling the pending retirement of our current PreConstruction Manager, it is an excellent opportunity to train and learn our local market, industry, and processes under his guidance.  The role will include:

  • Represent Charter to clients, GC’s, and subcontractors to provide cost engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility
  • Conceptual ROM mechanical cost estimating from conceptual and/or early design documents
  • Manage, mentor, and guide estimating department staff
  • Knowledge of the construction practices, means and methods
  • Maintain and update historical costs
  • Ability to participate in preconstruction team meetings with various disciplines including Architects, Engineers, and other trades
  • Ability to identify project risk factors
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Onscreen Takeoff, QuoteSoft estimating or comparable preconstruction technologies
  • Take-off of quantities and items for cost development
  • Identify and resolve technical design and specification concerns
  • Actively involved with the Business Development group to pursue new work as well as develop new client relationships
  • Preparation of project proposals
  • Review Contract Documents and Specifications; note clarifications and/or cost impacts as they relate to our scope of work
  • Vendor and subcontractor estimate reviews

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical construction estimating and/or design. 
  • Related work experience required (hands-on trade experience) or college degree, preferably Construction Engineering Management, Business Administration, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Conceptual and hard bid experience with a proven track record of successful wins.
  • Relationships in the local market strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with conceptual estimating.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project task.
  • Possess basic understanding of mechanical and plumbing system codes, systems, and construction business practices
