We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of HVAC and Plumbing Service Division Manager to lead our team of service technicians. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can drive operational excellence, revenue growth, ensure top-tier customer satisfaction, and mentor our team to success.

Summary

The HVAC & Plumbing Service Division Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and growing the HVAC and Plumbing service division. This role oversees daily operations, financial performance, team leadership, customer satisfaction, and strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with proven leadership, operational discipline, and a customer-first mindset. Exceptional organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities are required.

Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee operations of our HVAC and Plumbing service department to ensure efficient scheduling, customer responsiveness, quality workmanship, and timely service delivery.
    • Manage the daily operations of the service department, including assisting with scheduling technicians, dispatching calls, and monitoring workload to maximize efficiency.
    • Develop and execute strategies to expand service revenue and market share.
    • Monitor service performance metrics including response time, completion rates, callbacks, and warranty work.
    • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality standards.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and licensing requirements.
    • Review and produce planned maintenance for the month.
    • Estimating and proposal production.

Financial & Performance Management

    • Manage division budgets, forecasting, and profitability (P&L responsibility).
    • Review and approve customer invoices.
    • Drive revenue growth through service agreements, upselling, and operational efficiency.
    • Monitor and control costs related to labor, materials, vehicles, and equipment.

Leadership & Team Development

    • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and career development plans.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Recruit, hire, and retain supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
    • Keep the team updated on the latest industry technologies, procedures, and products by organizing and leading regular technical training sessions.
    • Address performance issues and resolve employee relations matters professionally and promptly.

Customer Experience & Relationship Management

    • Ensure exceptional customer service and high satisfaction ratings.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for resolving escalated customer issues, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Build long-term customer relationships.
    • Collaborate with technicians and dispatch teams to optimize customer communication.

Strategic Growth & Process Improvement

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, technology adoption, and workflow optimization.
    • Analyze and develop a program for execution of “small projects” in addition to standard on-demand maintenance.
    • Collaborate with ownership and senior leadership on long-term planning and goals.
    • Develop marketing initiatives related to service offerings, promotions, and maintenance programs.

Qualification Considerations

    • 7+ years of experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing service operations.
    • 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
    • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
    • Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and performance metrics.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience with service management software (Viewpoint / Field Connect) and MS Office.
    • Background in service agreement programs and revenue growth strategies.
    • Business or management training.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

    • Combination of office and field environments.
    • Ability to visit job sites and work in typical HVAC/plumbing conditions.
    • Occasional evenings or weekends as required.
